Jobs and AI

Will AI replace my job?

Short answer: For most people, AI is more likely to change parts of the job than erase it outright, though some roles, especially clerical ones, are shrinking. The safest move is to learn which of your tasks AI can do and get good at using it on those tasks.

What the biggest employer survey says

The World Economic Forum surveyed over 1,000 employers representing more than 14 million workers. On their predictions, it estimates 170 million jobs created and 92 million displaced between 2025 and 2030, a net gain of 78 million. That is a forecast, not a guarantee, and the losses are concentrated.

Which roles are most exposed

The same report expects the largest declines among clerical and secretarial workers, such as cashiers, ticket clerks and administrative assistants, plus data entry clerks and bank tellers. AI and machine learning specialists and big data roles are among the fastest growing.

What to do now

List your weekly tasks and mark the repetitive, text-heavy ones; those are where AI helps first. Employers say about 39% of workers' skill sets will change by 2030, and 85% plan to prioritize upskilling, so practicing with AI tools on your own work is the most direct hedge.
